Reflection

My experience with photojournalism is rather limited, but I plan to work on it until my work is more comprehensive. A big part of it is just my anxiety and not wanting people to watch me or anything like that, but that’s not an excuse. The picture in Tech Connect was a last-minute need for a visual, so I immediately set it up with my co-editor and two props. Stood on a table with one of the staff’s four cameras, and took two shots. By process of elimination, the one you see now on the page made it. In Can’t Pin Her Down I attended a wrestling practice, the entire two or so hours, and took some action shots, but mostly waited for a moment of emotion with the subject. When I got that, I was ecstatic, and still I continued to take pictures. I ended up with close to 100 photos, all purposeful, but with some unfortunate missed opportunities in setup. What I currently lack in camera technique, I make up for in enthusiasm, ideas, and the drive to get better.
